  • What is low vision?

    Low vision is decreased vision that glasses or surgery can't improve due to an eye condition such as macular degeneration.

  • What is vision rehabilitation?

    Vision rehabilitation includes medical and educational services to minimize the impact of decreased vision on daily activities such as reading or driving and improve adaptation to vision loss.

  • Who provides vision rehabilitation services?

    Vision rehabilitation services are multidisciplinary. Generally: 

    • Ophthalmologists manage eye health.
    • Optometrists address the use of vision.
    • Occupational therapists, low vision therapists, vision rehabilitation therapists and teachers of students with visual impairment address everyday tasks and coping with vision loss.
    • Orientation and mobility specialists teach safe travel. 
  • What is low vision therapy?

    Low vision therapy helps individuals with vision loss:

    • cope with vision loss
