You've Handled Hard Things

That's what surprises most of my clients. They've successfully managed challenges in careers, families, and even other health issues. But often, vision loss leaves them feeling stuck.

Maybe that's you. You're likely using your phone as a magnifier when glasses offer limited help, but you wonder how you'll manage other aspects of life. "Will vision loss make me a different person?"

Individualized coaching can help you move from vision-specific stress as your baseline toward greater calm and confidence.

What Working Together Looks Like

We meet by video or phone, usually every other week to begin. You bring a low vision issue you're dealing with in the moment, whether that's a task that used to be automatic and now feels like a project, an upcoming conversation with your doctor, or well-intentioned, but unwanted help, from a loved one.

Together we identify the underlying vision-specific roots of the problem. I might introduce a strategy or a resource that addresses the issue. We figure out whether it's right for you or if something else is needed.

The goal is that you feel competent again and can face the challenges of vision loss without feeling overwhelmed or alone.

What we may focus on

  • Making sense of your vision and how to use it better
  • Finding the providers, services, and resources that fit your situation
  • Handling the emotions that come with low vision

Once we begin working together, I'll need a recent report from your eye doctor. If you don't have a current low vision exam, which focuses on how you use your vision, I'll ask you to schedule one. I stay in touch with your doctor about our work.

As a Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT), I work across medical and educational settings and with complex vision conditions, so your challenges are not new to me. My graduate training is from Vanderbilt University, and my work includes educating practitioners from across disciplines, writing and consulting. Envision recognized my work with its 2026 Oculus Award, given for national or international impact for people who are blind or have low vision.

Serving people with low vision is my calling, and I am honored that my clients trust me to walk alongside them when vision challenges feel hard.
